The Scatter Reducing Drapes are used to protect the physician against radiation emitting from the patient’s body during interventional procedures. Each and every procedures where a radiologist or cardiologist is exposed to scatter radiation contributes to serious and cumulative lifetime risk factors. This long-term exposure can cause radiation-induced glaucoma, thyroid and other cancers. Scatter Reducing Drapes are specially designed to block harmful radiation at the procedure site before scatter rays escape. Scatter Reducing Shields are placed on top of the patient drape to block scatter radiation at the source, creating a scatter-free zone, reducing harmful radiation exposure to the doctor or clinician. Scatter Reducing Drapes are available in disposable (lead-free) and reusable (lead) options.
